Marvel Legends Rhino & Leader

I have several of these Marvel Legends Spider-Man Retro Card figures, this Rhino a recent purchase and the first I've opened. I never had the BAF Rhino from 2015, but I like the more classic presentation here. Butterfly joints at the shoulders would have been nice, but I do like the updated, classic portraits, one neutral and one grimacing.

For whatever reason, I pulled out my Ben Reilly Spider-Man from 2015 while I was familiarizing myself with Rhino, capturing a couple decent charging poses...

The Renew Your Vows/Spider-Man & Spinneret 2pk that dropped at Target recently is probably the Spider-Man to pull out first after opening this retro card Rhino, though. He's my new go-to Spidey. I love having that toe articulation. I still like the Marvel Legends Spider-Man figures I have on that Ben Reilly Spider-Man buck, which debuted on the Pizza Spidey.

Below, Rhino with some other oversized Marvel Legends in my collection:

Rhino and The Leader are important characters for me in conjunction with the Hulk because of Marvel Super-Heroes #76, one of my earliest comic books as a child in the '70s, and first exposure to both villains. Because of this, I knew I'd be busting out my 80th Anniversary Hulk ...!

I bought this Leader figure loose on eBay, which looks very much like he did in that issue of Marvel Super-Heroes I mentioned earlier. I had taken to giving him the orange gun included with my MOTU Origins Webstor- a perfect fit!

I love being able to pair Leader with my 80th Anniversary Hulk,
where's he's been since I got him...

And finally, because it's such a great figure, Leader with my Marvel Select Immortal Hulk ...!

More Later- Make It FUN!

Spider-Man Series Power Charge Rhino

Jason asked for a look at this a week ago, before I did all the posts on Marvel Universe Spider-Men. I've been generally underwhelmed at the severely overstocked supplies of  Spider-Man Series action figures by Hasbro crowding the toy aisles, with the exception of the Power Charge Rhino.  I passed on two of these at another area Target three weeks ago, though I've come to believe he's somewhat difficult to come by.

His heft is what attracted me- if I can get one of the larger characters within any 3 3/4" line, I will- makes me feel as though I'm (laughs) getting a better value  :D  Upon opening this figure, I reallized that some portions of the armor are removeable, secured in place by clear rubberbands within the packaging. When I removed all the rubberbands, the extra knee, forearm, and spike shoulder armor had a tendency to fall off. While this design flaw is annoying, Rhino looks fine without it...

I really liked the texture and distressed paint applications on Rhinos hooves-he has a great sculpt! It's too bad about the skin tone on his face, otherwise he'd be exceptional. But hey- he's an eight dollar action figure for some kid to throw around in the sandbox! He has some decent/functional articulation- while Rhino's legs are limited to a swivel-hinge joint at the hips, he does sport elbow joints, swiveling biceps, and swivel-hinge joints at the shoulders. Additionally, Rhino's head has a swivel-hinge joint, making him quite expressive.

The package included a trio of "battle cards" enabling the collector to measure up powers against other characters/figures in the series. This didn't interest me, but your eight year old can take his pals to task when challenged about exactly who can kick Rhino's ass.

From Wikipedia:
Aleksei Sytsevich was a nameless thug for hire working for an Eastern Bloc country. He volunteered to participate in an experiment that bonded a super strong polymer to his skin, thus augmenting his strength and speed, resulting in the Rhino alias. The Rhino returned in Hulk, vol. 2, #104 (June 1968) and although he died at the end of the story, the character proved popular enough to be revived, becoming a perennial opponent for both Spider-Man and the Hulk.

Let's see how Rhino fares against the  Iron Man 2 Hulkbuster...!!

Mmm Mmm Mmmm... that looked pretty rough!

Sunday Toy Shopping

Sunday morning found me out picking up some action figures again, a FUN start to an eventful day off...

*Marvel Universe Thor & Scarlet Spider by Hasbro
I saw some others I liked, but settled on these two. I had passed that Thor by many times at my local Wal-Mart, so I took him home today! He's really cool! Then at Target I found the last Scarlet Spider- last week I saw three, so it was now or never. Not everyone's favorite, but he made me spot & look again today so I went ahead & bought him.

*Hasbro Spiderman Series Power Charge Rhino
Found him at Target with Scarlet Spider- I had passed on him last week as well, but gave in today. Too bulky & badass to pass on again...

I saw a lot of cool stuff on clearance, some of which I may go back for later. I've been passing on most all of the great deals out there only because I've found so much great Marvel Universe stuff lately. And Mike from Mike's Comics & Stuff found me a couple really cool six inch Young Justice figures he's sending. DONT' FORGET! Mike is having A Super-Duper ToyBox Special over at the Mike's Comics & Stuff website! Enter "superduper" at the check-out and get 10% off your order! Mike gives great service and has some killer stuff!  I just ordered:
*DC Universe Young Justice 6" Artemis Figure
*DC Universe Young Justice 6" Robin Figure

UP NEXT: MARVEL UNIVERSE SCARLET SPIDER, SPIDER-MAN 2099, HOUSE OF M SPIDER-MAN!
