Turtles of Grayskull Mouse-Jaw, 2-Bopsteady, Splinter-Skull, Metal-Boto

After finding Splinter-Skull and2-Bopsteady at retail recently, I backtracked to pick up Mouse-Jaw to complete my Turtles of Grayskull Metal-Boto build-a-figure. While I already had Sla-ker, I had no intention of trying to complete the BAF, but once it was within reach, I made it happen in short order.

Splinter-Skull is a King Grayskull/Splinter mashup, pictured below with my MOTU Origins King Randor and the "Temple of Darkness" Sorceress in Castle Grayskull...

Nothing in my collection really compares with 2-Bopsteady. I have limited TMNT knowledge, and as little with MOTU Two Bad, which appeared in 1985, just before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became the cartoon/toy/movie property juggernaut we know today around 1987. I was a teenager by then, so Bebop and Rocksteady held little nostalgia for me. Regardless, I like this action figure- the ball and chain flail and big blade that sheathes onto his back make him a great baddie!

Below, 2-Bopsteady captured my MOTU Origins "Lords of Power" Beastman...

The second of the Target-Exclusive Metal-Boto BAF figures, Mouse Jaw didn't initially appeal to me, though his Mouser/Micro-Bot accessory and the way it integrates into Mouse-Jaw's robotic arm rocks:

Though most of the figure's inspiration is derived from it, Mouse-Jaw
has a lot of new parts that are different than my MOTU Origins Trap Jaw...

Mouse-Jaw also shares aspects of another MOTU figure, Terror Claws Skeletor:

And honorable mention, Turtles of Grayskull Sla'ker, who I reviewed nearly six months ago, and up to that point, the only figure of these I had. With little intent to complete Metal-Boto, I had picked Sla'ker up solely on its merits as a big, fun action figure. Picture below, Sla'ker with my Masterverse Faker and MOTU Origins Faker...

And finally, Metal-Boto, the build-a-figure for which all its parts were interspersed among Mouse-Jaw, 2-Bopsteady, Splinter-Skull, and Sla'ker. a lot of accessories to fit into the wrists and various ports, including smaller peg adapters for the wrists. The green cover can be removed to show the working gears, activated when the waist is turns, as does the red jaw. Splinter-Skull's shield fits onto Metal-Boto's back for a golden shell!

Metal-Boto has a buncha new parts but is mashup of TMNT Metalhead and MOTU Roboto- pictured below in from of my MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull, Wave 3 Roboto, and Minicomic Roboto...

I've actually had the first two waves of the Turtles of Grayskull line on ice and am seriously considering pre-ordering the third and fourth. When the subline was revealed, I thought it was an easy "pass", but I'm unexpectedly charmed with them, as I was the Masters of the WWE Universe crossover with MOTU Origins. It's a testament to the Origins line, its interchangeable parts, and it's overall playability. Still a favorite of mine four years later and fitting it should be the last post of 2024! Happy New Year!

Marvel Legends Disney+ Infinity Ultron Wave

I've had this Marvel Legends Disney+ Wave on ice since the end of last year, having preordered it right after solicitation in 2022. Moon Knight and Mr. Knight figures were certainly of interest to me, Moon Knight being features in issue #22 of Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man, one of the first comics I remember from childhood. I later read several issues of the Marvel NOW! Moon Knight, which influenced the more deeply explored multiple personalities aspects of the Disney+ character. I enjoyed the supernatural aspects of the Disney+ show but longed for some street-level crime fighting found in the earlier Moon Knight interpretations. These are two beautifully sculpted figures...

I may like the Hawkeye and Kate Bishop figures more than I did the Disney+ show, but I like Jeremy Renner's portrayal of the character and was entertained. I should read the Kate Bishop Hawkeye books Marvel has released; they receive high praise.

Hawkeye with some other versions of MCU Clint Barton, Avengers Endgame Hawkeye and Ronin. I stupidly sold off my original Avengers Hawkeye years ago, and regret it...

I'm' not sure how much I remember of Sharon Carter's role in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but this is a solid figure- her knife accessory is lazy, unpainted, and flimsy, but the nightstick has some detail. The layered hoodie under trench coat outfit was well executed.

Below, Sharon Carter with the other plain clothed MCU figure in my collection, Jessica Jones...

I am a big fan of She-Hulk, due in large part to John Byrne's Sensational She-Hulk and liked many aspects of the recent Disney+ show based on that interpretation. This may have been the most anticipated figure of the wave for me, and she is pretty fantastic. A more useful set of alternate hands and an extra/angry head would have been nice, but She-Hulk is a beautiful figure.

Below, Disney + She-Hulk with my Marvel Legends She-Hulk...

I still haven't seen the Disney+ Ms. Marvel Show, so my enthusiasm for getting this figure was probably less than the others, but she did turn out good, and really looks like a kid...

Below, Disney+ Ms. Marvel with my Marvel Legends MCU Captain Marvel ...

...and Disney+ Ms. Marvel with my Marvel Legends comic-based Ms. Marvel...

I thought this Infinity Ultron BAF would be larger, but the main disappointment was his bent, rubbery lance- I hate Hasbro's use of soft rubber for weapons/accessories- these are adult collectibles for crying out loud! Otherwise, I really like the sculpt/paint deco on this deluxe Ultron.

Below, Infinity Ultron with my other Marvel What If ...? BAF, The Watcher ...!

Below, Infinity Ultron BAF with my Iron Man 3 Ultron, and Marvel Legends Classic Ultron from 2021. Infinity Ultron sure has nice deco, but that Classic Ultron is the Ultron from my Bronze-Age childhood ...!

This was a spectacular wave of MCU Marvel Legends, the two characters I cared a little less about still commendable offerings. I still haven't seen Ms. Marvel, but the rest of the shows represented in this wave were entertaining overall. I don't often plunk down for an entire wave of Marvel Legends, especially after recent price hikes, but this group was exceptional.

McFarlane DC Multiverse Atrocitus/Blackest Night Wave

This Atrocitus/Blackest Night Wave of McFarlane action figures I picked up are perfect for the Halloween season upon us! Kyles Rayner is the only human of the bunch, which are all zombies and monsters. I'm unsure how to feel about this shade of green, but I have a feeling we will see at least one more version of this character. Regardless, I like this figure overall. More constructs could have been nice, but we got his unique lantern accessory, so I'm happy.

Below, McFarlane Kyle Rayner with DC Direct JLA Kyle Rayner (2003)...

Below, Kyle Rayner with John Stewart and Parallax from my last post- I've missed the large chunk of DC Direct Lanterns I sold off awhile back, so it's fun picking up some McFarlane Green Lanterns...

I regret never having picked up the Black Lantern Batman DC Direct produced for their Blackest Night series, of which I had many, but this McFarlane version makes up for it. The textures in the sculpt and color were better in person than I expected...

The McFarlane Flashpoint/Thomas Wayne Batman is a favorite among my DC Multiverse figures, but this Black Lantern Batman rivals it for my money. The Earth 44/Murder Machine Batman is another "horror" Batman in my DC Multiverse collection that's an interesting reimagining of the character.

I'm mostly sure this is the only Deathstorm I've ever owned in this scale, though I did have a DC Action League Deathstorm minifig! The included lantern accessory was appreciated.

DC Direct released a couple different Black Lantern Supermen in their Blackest Night line- I had the Series 7 Blackest Night Superman, but this one is more like the Series 1 Earth-2 Black Lantern Superman.

These Black Lanterns make a creepy pair, and makes me wonder will McFarlane produce as deep a bench of Black Lanterns as DC Direct did in 2009-2010. It's true I was more motivated by the Atrocitus BAF and Black Lantern Batman, but these are pretty cool.

Collecting all four figures in this wave gets one the parts for the large Atrocitis figure. I had a DC Direct Atrocitus that I miss, but this larger version is probably scaled better- big oversight not including a lantern accessory.

Since I now had Atrocitus, I had to buy Batrocitus, a perfectly fitting mashup! Ironically, Batrocitus does have a red lantern accessory and extra fists. I may like him a little better than the Atrocious BAF partially for this reason. but they make a great pair!

My McFarlane Hellbat also pairs well with Batrocitus. There are a few other Batman variants McFarlane has produced that I'd like to have, but I'm pretty happy with the one's I've picked up. I enjoyed this wave of McFarlane figures, but go ahead and pick up Batrocitus to supplement if you are getting this wave.
