Want! Diamond Select Marvel Gallery Iron Man Retro Statue...

I wasn't that wild about Diamond Select's recent Marvel Gallery Spider-Man statue- the standing model with one foot dangling off the top of a pole. I was floored by this retro Iron Man spotted in TRU on Saturday however, with his metallic sheen and classic good looks! Not taking away from the 2008 modernization of the character for his silver screen debut, his is what pops into my head when I think of Iron Man. Sculpted by Mat Brouillard, this diorama measures approximately 11" tall, and the paint apps looked really good for the price of $39.99. I'm currently in the process of reorganizing and downsizing my collection, so I'm unsure I want to pick him up, but among these Diamond Select Gallery Statues, he'd be the one I get! I don't have a lot in the way of statues among my collection, but it's nice to see some below $50.00. See my Pinterest of Boyish Interest: Toys I Want page to see more of what I like!

Seen Toy Shopping Recently...

This is merely a post to show a few things that interested me enough to capture a pic, but not get my wallet out in the last few months. This blog is rarely a source for what's new in comics or action figures, and though you have likely seen most of this, these action figures caught my eye on the pegs during a few recent outings.

Above are three Batman v Superman series Aquaman variants I've spotted multiple times at local retail. I must admit I've admired these more basic 6" action figures from the Mattel line, though I've not purchased any, which predictably include Multiple Superman and Batman variants. Below, Funko Dorbz Green Lantern Batman and Sinestro vinyl figures- I'm a big fan of the Green Lantern/Batman mashup and the Sinestro/Batman mashup, and these were hard to pass up....

While I'm not likely finished collecting large action figures, I already have a 12" New 52 Superman in this Mattel style. I liked these new Justice League Action toys styled after the recent animated show, but at some point you stop buying every Justice League action figure line that appears...

On the Marvel end of large action figures, some new Titan Hero series characters have been appearing, these from the Spider-Man subline. I nearly bought the Spyder Knight for his unique armored styling, and though not sighted on the pegs, the line boasts a Big Time Spidey on the packaging...

I stopped buying Hasbro's 3.75" Marvel Universe figures after filling a giant tote of MOC examples, and opening/photographing as many, but I do like some of these new offerings. Another hindrance has been the price, which has doubled since the first I bought in 2011, which included bases! Purchasing the four samples pictured below would cost you about fifty bucks, which seems like a poor value- my advice would be to keep an eye out for a sale on these, as recent waves have ended up on clearance with time.

More Toy Shopping: Resale Scene August 2016

Some more sights I took in during August checking the local action figure retail scene, this batch mostly from local resale shops V-Stock & Slackers! Pictured above and below, 6" DC SuperHeroes. predecessors to the hugely successful DC Universe Classics line which I collected several of during their run. These were some of the first....

Below, the DC Direct JLA Series Wonder Woman, a classic rendering of the heroine. I'm looking forward to the forthcoming film, and am enjoying the character's introduction into the DC cinematic universe, portrayed by actress Gal Gadot. Check out my post on the DC Direct All Star Comics Series Wonder Woman!

Now I collected more the 10" scale of '90s Toybiz figures two or three years ago, but I admire these smaller figures of this era for the same charming simplicity. If there was a sale I may have picked these up...

Pictured below, the new Gentle Giant Secret Wars Spider-Man, enlarged reissues of the popular '80s action figures I loved as a kid. Still have my Dr. Doom! I hate that these are going for such outrageous prices- I'd own some if they were priced more reasonably.

Below. some of the processors of the 3.75" Marvel Universe figures, which have been rebranded at least a couple times since I stopped collecting them, first as the Infinite Series, and now just under the Legends Series banner like the 6" and recent 12" figures. Though not listed on the Marvel Universe Checklist on ItsAllTrue.Net, these obviously predate the inaugural 2009 lineup of the highly articulated figures...

I'm unsure when the die cast figures pictured below were produced, but they sure have that '90s ToyBiz charm! I was particularly fond of the Human Torch/Dragon Man 2-pack! Like a lot of the Marvel ToyBiz figure lines, these have their own team franchise marquee, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, X-Men, etc....

And finally, a new Power Rangers line I discovered running through TRU afterward- a little off this post's theme, but I thought they looked cool! Though I was not into the Power Rangers during their '90s heyday, I've collected a few Sentai/Power Ranger figures in the last year or so, interested mostly in their uniform aesthetic. I've bought a few domestic Bandai, as well as several of the more detailed imports...

Toy Shopping: DC Comics Isle, TRU July 2016

BubbaShelby reminded me this weekend that it had been awhile since I last posted here on the SuperDuperToyBox, and while it's been on my mind and I have plenty in my collection to show, the truth is that I'd been very busy posting on my Super Fun Hot Wheels Blog. That said, Bubba's comment did inspire a trip to TRU to check out the scene, which was revealed some new  Suicide Squad merch, including six and twelve inch Mattel figures pictured above and below. I loved these! There were only Deadshot and Harley in 12", but there is also a Joker!

Also on the shelves were some great Jada diecast statues of the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Deadshot! I have an Batman v Superman Armored Batman like this from Jada, which has some problems standing, but these don't look as top heavy.

It looked as though the demand for '66 Batman merch has slowed, most of it on sale for 30% off! Very tempting, but I'm so far behind photographing what I'd bought this past spring that it wouldn't make sense.

Also of personal interest was this great Mini Mezitz Batman Returns box set- at $24.95 the value is dubious, but what a great pack! This is possibly my favorite Batman movie of all time- I still have  the movie poster, which I framed around the time I started this blog.

While I've seen DC Direct/DC Collectibles release multi-packs of Batman and Superman, this may be the first time I've seen Mattel do it. If you are new to collecting action figures, these would get things started for you in a fun way! I collected from all these different lines, except the 6" Batman v Superman series...

I've started to notice elements of the Flashpoint storyline seeping into different toy lines, including the very cool Batman Unlimited Molten Mayhem set pictured below, featuring a Batman figure obviously inspired by the Thomas Wayne Batman from the popular pre-New 52 storyline. Check out my Medicom Real Action Heroes Flashpoint Batman I reviewed in April!

And finally, what I went back to check out once more, these extremely cool Green Arrow and Bat-Mech figures from Mattel. While it's started to gain some more traction due to the recent Batman v Superman film, as well as the comics in the last year, Batman as an armored mech can be hard to come by. It's been a theme present in recent animated TV shows like Batman: The Brave & the Bold my personal favorite, but we usually otherwise get an armored Batman- this is a robot! While I do have a sort of Green Arrow sub-collection, my collection of Batman figures, unusual and conventional, is far more expansive, so I chose the Bat-Mech. Tomorrow I will post about him- meet me back here!

Toy Shopping: Nov. 7th, 2015

Earlier this month I enjoyed a day spent running around the county photographing stuff I liked among some of my favorite places, and thought I'd share! I found a few things I share at a later date, but these shots are mainly from TRU, along with more from Slackers, V-Stock, and some other local retailers. Lots of Star Wars, but also lots of attractively priced vintage figures I perhaps should have picked up just on principle. That said, I've bought toys than I even have time to look at, some purchased years ago that I've never opened. What pictured below would YOU have not been able to resist   ...?

Giant action figures! As big as your kid!

Always admired the design of these Hasbro "Mashers" figures... a great idea for a kid's toy...

I have a few of these 11" Titan Hero series figures- they are big, dumb toys, but I can't help liking the Vision and Falcon...

I stopped buying the 3.75" Marvel figures... I have too many! Love this Beast though...

What a great looking Legends Series Guardians of the Galaxy box set...

I have a few older ToyBiz Marvel Legends, but the Abomination figure below was really cool!

I also have a couple Hasbro Marvel dollies like Cap & Daredevil... they sure look sweet, and a great price- it was 30% off that day...

A giant POP! Thanos... if he'd been a regular vinyl figure and not a bobble head, I' may have bought him...

I have a Hikari Batman I love, but these limited edition vinyls are not inexpensive...

I really should have bought the '89 Batman & Joker that day... the Batman Beyond dolly a few pics below too. two or three years ago, I'd have jumped on those...

I love the vintage comics case at this local retailer, where Aquaman, pictured above resides. There are dollar comics for miles! I saw the Mortal Combat figures pictured below there as well. I have some '90s Marvel figures in this style that I love...

I'm really into Lego minifigures right now, so I was fascinated by the case below...

I hit this great arcade/vintage toy store at the end of my trip, which had old pinball machines and video games for sale. The toys were overpriced, but the atmosphere was so beautifully nostalgic... it felt like stepping back in time...
