Loyal Subjects Thundercats Lion-O & Tygra

Related to my last post involving Thundercats, I've recently become infatuated with Loyal Subjects mini figures, picking up this Lion-O and Tygra from an eBay seller. I'd been amassing a modest collection of Loyal Subjects MOTU figures and stumbled upon these two. I'm delighted by the articulation and accessories on this line of 3.25" figures- no knee or elbow articulation, but they do have wrist, ankle, and waist swivels, and ball-jointed limbs and neck. Surprisingly expressive!

Super 7 Deluxe Thundercats Tygra

Unfortunately, I had to buy this Deluxe Tygra from Amazon because I couldn't find a trace of him in the wild. While less expensive than the Super 7 Ultimate Editions, these more Deluxe figures with less accessories aren't exactly cheap. They are, however, beautiful figures, and I for one get exhausted juggling endless amounts of accessories and trying to keep track of them all. You get Tygra's bolo whip- that's it, and I'm fine with it. The range of articulation on these Super 7 Thundercats is very limited, but I really like their clean presentation. I'm barely a casual Thudercats fan, but Tygra is my favorite...

Below, Tygra with my other Deluxe Edition Thundercats figure, Lion-O, and my Super 7 "LJN Toy Version" Cheetara. Super 7 did release a Deluxe Edition Cheetara, but I'm happy enough with mine...

Super 7 Vintage Series Thundercats- Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Jackalman

I had just picked up some Super 7 Ultimate Thundercats figures last November, and then these 5.5" Vintage Series Thundercats were solicited. I had really got into Masters of the Universe Origins the last four years, so I preordered these immediately. Articulation is limited to swivel joints at the neck, shoulders, waist, with a hinge added to the hips that help balance the figures for the most part. Mumm-Ra has a thick satiny cape that's pretty nice!

This new Vintage Series Lion-O has a lot in common with
the Deluxe Lion-O that dropped last year:

The Vintage Series Mumm-Ra is a little different from the Ultimate Mumm-Ra I have,
which is the "Toy Version" that pays tribute to the original LJN toys design/colors.

Jackalman would make a great sparring pair with my

I got into Formo Toys Legends of Dragonore in 2023, another fantastic 5.5" fantasy figures line. While slow to release (I'm still waiting on Wave 2), their quality is top-notch, and their parts are interchangeable.

I only have a couple Suoer7 MOTU Vintage Series figures,
including this Filmation Skeletor, but they look fantastic!

In case you are new to this blog, the castle playset featured in this post is the Funko Primal Age Batcave I bought in 2020 in lieu of the promised MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull. It's mainly for my Legends of Dragonore nowadays, but I use it for other figures, including some Mego Horror figures. Fantastic playset, the best twenty-five bucks I ever spent!

I'd love to see a few more of these released, but no word regarding additions to the Vintage Series, nor the larger DX/Deluxe Series. I'm a casual Thundercats fan at best, but they are fun to pose with other fantasy figures in my collection and they look good with my Primal Age Batcave. Recommended!

Super 7 Thundercats Deluxe Lion-O, Ultimate Mumm-Ra & Cheetara (Toy Versions)

The animated Rankin/Bass show that ran from '85-'89 was just a little past my childhood as I moved into my teens, but I did catch a few episodes, or at least portions thereof. Regardless, I stumbled upon the new DX Deluxe Lion-O at Target recently and had hunted down a couple other Super 7 Thundercats figures, an Ultimates Series Mumm-Ra and Cheetara, both the "Toy Versions" styled after the original LJN figures. I never had any Thundercats toys in the late '80s, but did have some Dungeons and Dragons figures from a few years before.

The new DX Deluxe Lion-O doesn't have all the extra accessories the Ultimates version did, but the $35.00 price tag, though inflated, was like $20.00 less. This version looks more like the Rankin/Bass cartoon, which I actually like. Fans say this figure is too light, but I have little to no nostalgia for the character, so I wasn't bothered.

This super-saturated Cheetara was the "Toy Version" of the Ultimates Cheetara, so she came with several sets of hands and an extra head with an angry face. I picked up this figure and the Mumm-Ra from an online seller at a 20% discount- still overpriced, but I love the toy-etic aesthetic of this figure. Her articulation doesn't possess great range like Mattel or Hasbro figures, but she looks fun!

Below, Cheetara with my Marvel Legends Tigra and Catra ...

You can get a big Super 7 Ultimates Mumm-Ra now at a discount, and I loved this "Toy Version"- so much so that I've contemplated picking up the regular version with the cape and pet bulldog! Mumm-Ra has a little better range of articulation the Cheetara and is a whoppin' big figure! He came with two head sculpts, several sets of hands, and two great weapons, and really reminds me of the '80s LJN Dungeons and Dragons figures.

And finally, Mumm-Rah with my NECA Warduke and Mattel Masterverse Battle Armor Skeletor...

I'd be interested in more DX Deluxe Series figures, particularly a Tygra and Panthro! While Super 7 makes beautiful Ultimates figures, the competitors are releasing $25.00 figures with better articulation and often times as many accessories. NECA has been giving Super 7 a run for their money in this regard. I think this is an attempt to cut into a lower price point, and they have my attention. I was delighted with my Mumm-Ra and Cheetara, but they were kind of expensive, even at a discount. Regardless, I love these figures and am having fun with them!
