I'd seen the new 3 3/4" Spider-Man action figures all over the place in the last week or so, but the Movie Series Ultra-Poseable Spidey had eluded me... until Friday afternoon! I wasn't interested in most of the other variants nor that goofy looking Lizard, but this one was special for his superior articulation and movie accurate costume. I'm jazzed about the forthcoming Amazing Spider-Man movie, and liked the updated look of Spidey's outfit the first time I saw it- all the good elements of the familiar red & blue uniform remained intact in the revamp of this beloved character. Really great! Like DC's New 52 reboot of Superman's outfit, a lot of fans really got bent out of shape by the Amazing Spider-Man's wardrobe update, but I thought it was well done.
I've heard some negative feedback concerning the silver soles of Spider-Man's feet, but I'm over it. Pegholes in the heels and a base would have been appreciated, however, though it seems Hasbro just stopped giving us bases with the Marvel Universe figures, which annoys me and the rest of the world a lot.
Not only is this figure magnificently articulated, but his sculpt is equally impressive. The texture and incised lines throughout the body are impossibly complex. It's like a hyper-detailed Marvel Universe figure, and one of the most fun I've bought in awhile- he has my full endorsement. Spectacular, I say!
They didn't give Spidey the same orange/polarized eyes shown in the trailers for July's premiere for whatever reason. I imagine they were concerned that casual fans might be confused by this, or perhaps there was no way that could translate successfully in a mass produced toy of this diminutive scale?
Movie Series Ultra-Poseable Spider-Man with my 3 3/4" Marvel Universe Spider-Men...
I know about half the Marvel Universe collectors out there didn't care for the web accessory included with the 3 3/4" Spider-Man figures, but I liked them and think they should have given this Ultra-Poseable Spider-Man a clear/translucent one. With a little imagination, they can be a lot of fun...
More Later- Make It FUN!
Wow! I like the build of this one and you really can put it into many poses i might have to look into getting this one.
ReplyDeleteNice Spidey figure!
ReplyDeleteHaha I just found out about this one today and I am thinking about picking it up too! The rest of the line however...suck big time lol!
ReplyDeleteCool! We saw this one in Orlando last week but twice as expensive as its going to be around here so we'll wait.
ReplyDeleteOMFG!!! An action figure with half million points of articulation!!!!11
ReplyDeleteThe only one Spider Man I have is an old figure from mid 90s. He just have the typical articulation points (shoulders, hips, neck) plus the elbows and knees.
My Indiana Jones figure has more than that!!
