Marvel Legends X-Men Dump

Marvel Legends seem to be coming out with increasing frequency as the last few years have progressed. Though I can't buy them all, I hardly have time to review what I do buy. Due to this ever-growing pile of unopened figures, I've opted to dump several figures into one post- more of an overview of all the figures than an in-depth look into each figure individually. They are also less trouble to ship if I want to sell any. While the new X-Men Retro Card Apocalypse was a recent acquisition, the other X-Men Retro Card figures are over two years old now, and some of the others were purchased around 2017-18. Bishop and Forge have certainly been around that long...

Shatterstar is a fantastic figure with some nice detail- the leather texture/coloring on his shoulder pauldron and head gear is fantastic! He looks great next to his X-Force teammate Cable ...

Dani Moonstar is actually one of the New Mutants- she came with hand and head accessories for Karma and Wolfsbane, two of her New Mutants teammates. There are a handful of other New Mutants in my Marvel Legends collection, but I teamed her up with Warpath below, as they are both Native American ...

Sunfire is a figure I've had for several years now- one of several I bought on sale at Walgreens. The buck this is on has some fantastic articulation, including butterfly joints at the shoulders. The head sculpt is fantastic! He is pictured below with fellow flamester Human Torch...

When they started dropping these X-Men Retro Card Series figures, I was thrilled- particularly by the inclusion of Gambit and Rogue- the latter of which I had missed out on during her first release...

The Walgreens Exclusive Mystique included the head from that first Rogue figure, half transformed in blue skin. ...it seems a little big on this Rogue, but I sure love the inclusion of the glove holding hand on the new version.

Hasbro also released a black version of this Retro Card Storm with the soft goods cape. The Giant-Sized X-Men Storm that came with the Thunderbird 2-pack may be the best of these, but I love the punker mohawk Storm ...!

I already had the first release of Gambit before Hasbro dropped the superior X-Men Retro Card Gambit ... the painted playing cards, brighter colors, and better hair sculpt were an improvement.

Aside from the unfortunate aura effect on his Cerebro helmet, Professor X may be the best deluxe Marvel Legends figure ever- my favorite part about it are the sliding arm rests that reveal hidden control panels!

With my recent acquisition of the X-Men Animated Series Jean Grey and Cyclops, and the rest of this X-Men dump, I have a respectable '90s X-Men team...

My Marvel Legends Professor X can finally meet the Moira MacTaggert I got a couple years ago!
Moira is the longtime human love interest with Charles Xavier, recently retconned in the 2019 House of X storyline to have been a mutant that can redo her life every time she died.

This X-Men Retro Card Apocalypse is exactly what the fans ordered, and I couldn't be happier with it- he looks like he stepped out of the '90s Animated X-Men show! I missed out on the BAF figure several years ago, and I'm glad 'cause I like this one way better.

It's somewhat odd how the vivid colors of this Apocalypse really looks like the animated X-Men version but doesn't share the same "cel-shading" deco as Jean and Scott, in spite of also having retro packaging. Regardless, they look great together...

Not an exhaustive look at each figure, but it was time to get some of the Marvel Legends I've had open- both to save space and make way for some new Marvel Legends X-Men on the way. There are some other figure "dumps" I need to do of boxed figures that I've had for awhile, as well as some newer aquisitions, including an entire wave or two of Marvel Legends. Stay Tuned!

90's X-Men MiniMates

It's probably as good a time to photograph these fun MiniMates, having read so much 90's X-Men in the last year. There seems to have been a nostalgia for 90's comics lately, and finding them in the dollar bins is easy since the market was flooded back then. I had lost most of my interest in comics as that decade progressed, and was too busy to even notice the comics crash of 90's, so it's interesting time in industry that's fun to read for me.

Starting with the X-Men's fearless leader, Scott Summers, seems appropriate. While I've liked all the variations on Cyclops' outfit, this pouched/strapped-out verion seems to appeal to a lot of fans. It's a little more outrageous looking than other versions, and I suspect that and the boom in the X-men's popularity during this period are reasons why. Scott comes with an extra hair piece that reveals his ruby shades hidden by the visor on the other.

Scott's longtime lover, Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), has quite the red mane- a nice contrast against the blue and yellow costume. Like Cyclops, this was a popular era for Jean for the same reasons as her beau, I suspect.

90's Jean Grey and Cyclops with their X-Factor counterparts. It would be hard for me to choose a favorite pairing of these two- I'm recently keen on the X-Factor outfits, but was always liked the 90's X-Men costumes.

No 90's X-Men team could save the day without Rogue and Beast- sassy and smart, two valuable teammates!

It's easy to forget our Southern girl was raisedon the wrong side of the tracks. A runaway, Rogue was adopted by Mystique and grew up as a villain. After Rogue permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel's psyche and Kree powers, she reformed and turned to the X-Men. This was unknown to myself, having read a little about her strange bond with Carol Danvers only in the last year or so. I just didn't read much X-Men as a kid- didn't realize the wierdness I was missing  :D

Who could not love this? I love everything about this impossibly cute Beast MiniMate. His little paws and oversized feet are great! Like a lot of the chunkier characters in this line of Diamond Select toys, He has a slip-over torso piece to beef him up. The shade of blue is perfect!

Like my X-Factor Beast, 90's Beast came with an extra set of standard sized feet and hands, for what reason I am unsure. Who would pose these guys with out their beastly appenagages? That's why they are fun! Hank McCoy, brilliant scientist and medical doctor for the X-Men, actually had his first appearance in blue fur back in 1972- he briefly regained to his more human appearance on an early X-Factor mission, but is soon returned to his beloved blue.
These make a fun group! I had to hunt them down on the internet, and paid too much more for them getting into MiniMates so late, but were too cool to pass up. I have more MiniMates to show, including some Marvel mutants, so stay tuned and remember to PLAY WITH TOYS AND HAVE FUN WITH YOUR LIFE  :D

Hey, Mr. Postman!

I got a couple packages today- more TOYS in the mail! Hooray! Could there really be anything better than that, Friends?

-9" Martian Manhunter that I know little or nothing about, other than he's really cool and clean as can be! He was $10.90 (price included shipping)...

-10" Storm by Toybiz (1997). The toy AND box were so pristine, it looked as though it rolled out of the factory yesterday! She was $14.50 (price included shipping)... not bad...

SURPRISE! This will be a double dose of "Hey, Mr. Postman!"
That's right- I had received some other COOL action figures before Halloween that I didn't have a chance to show off! Let's take a quick look:

-10" Deluxe Edition Mystique by ToyBiz (1996). She was also in a really clean box... almost hate to open her ($11.54, price included shipping)...

-10" Marvel Universe Ninja Rogue by ToyBiz (1997), also in an exceptionally clean box ($15.34, price included shipping)...

-10" Marvel Universe Ninja Wolverine by ToyBiz (1997). His left elbow was stiff, and while trying to move it the plastic split slightly. I glued it back successfully- I guess that arm will just have to remain stationary... Nice head sculpt and cool outfit on this guy!

-10" Deluxe Edition Beast by ToyBiz (1994). I was looking for some BIG action figures awhile ago- Beast and The Thing really did it for me ($14.04, price included shipping)! This guy is HEAVY DUTY. They gave him some kinda "weapon" with a suction cup attached by a chain... haven't (laughs) worked up the courage to try it out yet...

Whew! What a buncha TOYS! And to think there's more on the way... I guess I'm gonna have to procure some more shelving *sigh* I'm havin' a ball over here, Friends, and I hope you are enjoying yourselves as well- you deserve it! Before I retire to my cozy bed with my Marvel Essentials Hulk Vol.6, I want you to remember:
-It takes all kinds of people in this world, and that includes YOU- don't ever let anyone tell you different!
-Give your love, no matter what... don't worry, you'll get it back.
-Play with TOYS and have FUN with your life!
