The Imaginext Superfriends line has turned out some fun toys, including a couple Batmobiles. But this toy appealed to me specifically due to the double windshield/canopy, highly reminiscent of the 60's television Batmobile designed by George Barris. I'm glad I waited.
While it's not motorized like one of the other Imaginext Batmobiles, there's a lot to like about this colorful, cute toy in the looks department, including nifty blue headlights activated by a trigger under the canopy...
Instead of a capture grapple featured on the other non-motorized Imaginext Batmobile, this one has a flip-up disc shooter- I LOVE a toy with a projectile!
Included with this Batmobile is another Imaginext Batman- black on black, like 1989! That's three Batman figures I have like this- from left to right: Mattel DC Action League Batman, Mattel DCUC All-Star Batman, Fisher-Price Imaginext Batman.
It was really fun getting these last two Imaginext finds which are currently rolling around my desk, non-stop. These are FUN toys with melt-your-heart cuteness- not something I anticipated getting into, though have wholeheartedly embraced. Compact size and lower price may have dictated the appeal these sorts of toys to me, though I'm also a fan of their economy of design, playability, and colorful spectrum when collected en masse. Such is the case with my fascination with my Imaginext Superfriends, DC Action League, and Mattel JLU collections- though simple in articulation, their caricature sculpts are inviting and fun, saying "Play with me!".
Just love it Super-D! The 60s Batmobile is my favorite of all of them and this one just looks so close to it am tempted to get back into these little guys just for it and a pair of Batman and Robin figures to drive the thing(As long as i can get a gray and blue Batman that is. : )
ReplyDeleteThat is a hell of a toy. Just awesome. I think the Imaginext line is probably putting out the most innovative DC Comics toys available these days. I wish the Action League line had things like this....
ReplyDeleteHoly transportation! That is one sweet Batmobile. I might need to pick one up for myself.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty swank Batmobile, I dig that it's reminiscent of the 60s version.
ReplyDeletethat's just BEAUTIFUL :)
ReplyDeleteThose headlights definitely take it up a notch. Nice Colin!
ReplyDeleteSo wouldn't you know it, I'm in Target yesterday and they had a Catwoman and a Clayface lol! BUT I suppose I did need two Catwomen so I am glad I ordered online anyways. I passed on Clayface but may regret it later, he is pretty neato!
ReplyDeleteBTW they also had Robin on his motorcycle and a blue/grey Batman with batwings/jetpack - so it appears they may be bringing back some of the older figures in newer shipments.
That's great news- I thinks these are wonderful toys... I may have to check the scene for Clayface this week!
