Marvel Universe Scarlet Spider

Truth be told, I prefer the costume Ben Reilly, genetic clone of Peter Parker, wore when he was just web slinging as '"Spider-Man", but I couldn't pass this guy up twice. I have a respectable collection of Spider-Man action figures, some of which I've not shown here, and I thought he'd make a unique addition.

Unlike the Marvel Universe House of M Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099, this figure has cut joints in his thighs. I'm fairly certain Scarlet Spider was released before Spider-Man 2099 however, and am unsure why he wouldn't get the same treatment.

Visually, I like the wrist bands & utility belt- perhaps it reminds me of the Spider-Man television show from the 70's starring Nicholas Hammond, in which Spider-Man donned a utility belt & wrist band occasionally. I don't even mind the hoodie so much, though I would have preferred it pulled up over his head (no, I'm not kidding). I find the colors choices odd, I suppose, but bright colors & baggy shirts were en vogue during the 90's, and I have pictures to prove it  :D

Marvel Universe Scarlet Spider with Hasbro Marvel Legends Scarlet Spider...

Am I boring you with all this Spider-Man stuff??  I'm just kiddin'- I don't really care  :D  More later!

  1. Keep them coming. Collect 'em all. Spider-Man is awesome. Can't wait until all the new toys comes out next year with the release of the new movie.

  5. Fron Wikipedia:
The first Scarlet Spider was a clone of Spider-Man created by the Jackal, (Miles Warren). The Jackal created the clone to fight and defeat the original Spider-Man, but since the clone and Peter both shared the same memories, they confused themselves in the battle. The original Peter Parker emerged victorious and the clone was left for dead and dumped into a smoke stack of a factory. He managed to escape and assumed the alias Ben Reilly, a combination of his Uncle's first name and his Aunt's maiden name. He wandered around aimlessly for five years before returning to New York City, and found himself once again wanting to be a hero. He fashioned his own costume, and became the Scarlet Spider. He fought alongside his "brother" Spider-Man, and proved himself to be such a great hero, that Spider-Man asked him to watch over the city while he and his wife Mary Jane tried to start a family. When his name was smeared by a second, evil Scarlet Spider, he assumed the identity of Spider-Man, until his death at the hands of Norman Osborn. His body subsequently disintegrated, proving once and for all that he was the clone.
