Batman The Animated/New Adventures Figure Dump

The catalyst for the whole thing I can't recall, but I started buying loose Batman The Animated/New Adventures figures. Kenner produced a lot of these figures in the '90s, and I had a lot of fun buying up the numerous variants of our favorite Caped Crusader. Most of them don't have their accessories. I never had any of these during childhood, moving into adulthood and college during that era, but I did buy a lot of variant Batman figures from the Batman the Brave and the Bold line produced by Mattel years later. Here's a few too many photos I took of them in the last month or so...

1998 Kenner Batman, Dark Gray and Blue with Yellow Bat Insignia:

Kenner 1998 is stamped on the back of the legs, but I think this was released by Hasbro in 2002, included in in a 2pk with Harley Quinn ("Only in Jest"). Another more standard deco of this buck with the swoosh cape was released with a Robin figure in '98. There's also a purple/black "Gotham Crusader" version of this buck Hasbro released in 2000.

1993 Kenner Lighting Strike Batman:

Possibly my favorite of all these- the fold-out cape/glider is fantastic!

I couldn't pin down the name this figure goes by or if he was included in a vehicle/playset that year, but he a lot like the red Infrared Batman. This standard buck was used for many figures and I like it.

1994 Kenner Radar Scope Batman:

I think this is the Radar Scope Batman with someone else's cape- this buck was used again in '96 for the Vector Wing Batman, and possibly others I haven't identified.

I'm pretty sure these are Kenner New Adventure Batmen- the lighter grey has discoloration and particularly rubbery legs. Neither of them stand well, due mostly to the heavy plastic cape. These are probably from around 1998.

These came with a bike originally, and there's a red version of this duo I'd like to have as well.

Mattel 2002 Tech Suit Batman

There was also an orange/silver/black version of this. The cape fold at the shoulders is a little bulky, but this is a cool Batman with Thomas Wayne/Flashpoint vibes in black/gray/red...

1995 Kenner Sea Claw Batman:

Yes, another Sea Claw Batman. I really like the all-black with metallic teal deco...

And finally, my Hasbro 2000 Mission Masters Mountain Pursuit Batman with my standard issue, 1998 Batman, released in the 2000 Mission Masters Series by Hasbro with a glider as the Knight Assault Batman, identified by the gold utility belt and cloth cape. He looks great, but the small feet on this buck make standing him a challenge.

Batmobile Launcher Playset

I couldn't resist the cheap thrill of this Batmobile Launcher Playset found at 5 Below!

As you could see in the video, the launcher works smoothly! I love the small details of the playset, including the bat signal spotlight on top. The Batmobile is all plastic, but I like the modern update based on the 1989 versions oval canopy and double fins.

I like how this playset foes with some of my Imaginext Batman toys: Super Friends Series 1 Batman, Batman Exo-Suit, and Bat-Tech Bat Signal.

New Batman Adventures Batman (Platinum Edition)

I passed on this Platinum Edition New Adventures Batman twice, believe it or not, but the third time I caved. I'm a sucker for Batman in black and red, and I love that Bruce Timm style. I'd love to have a Tim Drake Robin from this series in his matching colors! 

The matted animation cel included features Batgirl and Robin- nice inclusion with this packed figure, which also includes nine hands, a batarang and separate grapnel launcher (one of the right hands holds another grapnel launcher. I might have chosen a couple more batarangs over so many hand options.

The obvious first comparison would be my standard issue McFalane New Adventures Batman, which I love. McFarlane produce a silver and black version of this that I've also seen in the wild a few times, but I was not crazy about the swirly, marbled silver plastic- if it were painted silver, or gold for that matter, I might have bought it.

And finally, Platinum New Adventures Batman with my McFalane Batman '66 Italian Movie Poster Batman, also in red. I've said before how much I love off-model representations of comic book heroes, and variants on a theme in general. These also stir a nostalgia for all those colorful Batman variants produced in the '90s. Pure fun!

Mego Frankenstein (2018 GITD)

 

While I certainly made up for it later, I didn't initially jump onto the 8" figures when Mego suddenly reappeared back on the scene in 2018, so I didn't have this glow-in-the-dark Frankenstein. The figure had a somewhat high price for several years on the secondary market until I found him recently for a far more reasonable amount. There was a second, shirtless version more attractively priced for years, but I wanted this version in traditional dress.

The NECA Monsterizer can be used with most all of the Frankenstein figures I own- it accommodates Mego and other 8" figures perfectly. It also makes a great Halloween decoration with all its light features!

While this pair is simpler in deco than my Mego Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror figures, and more cartoonish in styling, I love them every bit as much! You will see MORE Mego figures in future posts here on the Super-DuperToyBox- Stay Tuned!

Funko POP! Bride of Frankenstein

After enjoying the last Universal Monsters Funko POP! vinyls I got this Halloween, I had to go back for The Bride of Frankenstein, another from the "Deco" series with its special paint embellishments. I finally watched the 1935 movie, starring Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester, so it makes both this season and this vinyl special! Funko POP Gill Man, Dracula, Dracula's Castle

I'm not a big POP! collector, but Universal Monsters interest me in any number of products. These Dracula and Creature from the Black Lagoon POP! vinyls are from the "Deco motif" that emulate sort of an animated look with their cartoony styling. They were on sale at BBTS, and I'm fond of their vivid color and graphic paint apps. Check out my YouTube Short:

It was the POP! Bitty Towns Dracula and Castle set that led me to the Dracula and Gill-Man POP! Vinyls above. Unable to find one in the wild, I went to BBTS- I love their selection, "Pile of Loot" service, and $4.00 shipping! The taller castle turret on the left seems slightly off kilter, but it's otherwise a fun little piece! I'm MAD for the Dracula Bitty POP! He's not exactly like the Deco full sized version with his more classic colors...
