More McFarlane Batmen, Funko Gold Batmobile, Joker Duck and More!

I picked up all these McFarlane Batman figures at retail a couple weekends ago, each from a different line entirely, and admittedly, each was somewhat of an impulse purchase. They are random as they seem, but I'll be throwing in a few other surprises from my collection- Enjoy!

DC Multiverse Batman (Western World)
I told myself I'd probably buy this, and the third time I saw it at a local GameStop, I did just that. Something about this Dark Ranger mash-up works for me, though I've not read, nor am I particularly curious about the Western World. The figure alone is enough somehow, even if it's just a Jonah Hex repaint (sure wish I had that figure's rifle and pistols now). A McFarlane with thigh swivel- why can't we get this feature any other time, for cryin' out loud. My main quibble: if you give us two trigger hands, at least provide two batarangs- hell, make us big fans and just give us an extra two as backup to those lost to the vacuum cleaner.

The best I could do for a weapon was the oversized steampunk gun from my McFarlane Toys Deluxe Accessory Pack, which is really apropos of the Victorian/Old West theme, and the accessory's metallic finish complements the gold belt buckle nicely. I need a horse, dammit.

The New Batman Adventures Batman
Batman the Animated was such a great show, but I wasn't looking into buying any of these from McFarlane until I compulsively purchased one at another GameStop way out in the county. There was a blue/gray variant of a couple of the early McFarlane DC Multiverse figures I'd mildly regretted not picking up. Seven extra hands, a separate grapple launcher, and a batarang, and figure stand make this a packed box. His tiny ankles don't support him well, so you will need that stand. He's a good visual representation of Bruce Timm's Batman that will look good on the Batman shelf in your detolf cabinet and that's why I bought him.

The figure came with a matted animation cel reproduction from Episode 6/Season 2, Legends of the Dark Knight, which aired in 1998. This is a fantastic pack-in relevant to the figure that can easily be popped into a 5 x 7" phot frame, which I intend to do.

I picked up this Batman the Animated Hot Wheels Batmobile in 2018 for my Super-FunHotWheels Blog, but never got around to cracking it open. It's not my favorite Batmobile design, but it did mimic the Art Deco inspired Gotham City architecture of the animated series.

Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns certainly informed Bruce Timm's Animated Batman, and I just happen to have the newest blue/gray McFarlane Dark Knight Batman , which I absolutely love...

Is that some kind of exotic fowl or has Batman finally cracked under the pressure?
No, it's my new Mini Tubbz Joker Duck

Below, Tubbz Joker Duck with my Figures Toy Company 18" Joker, 14" Mego Joker, 8" Mego 50th Anniversary Joker, 7" McFarlane Digital Series Classic Joker, 6" Mattel DC Universe Classics Joker, and 8" New Mego Joker... I love to clown around :D

Batman '66 Space Batman
Like the New Batman Adventures Batman, I have no other figures from this 6" line from McFarlane, but the uniqueness of this Space Batman is fine as a stand-alone for any Batman collection. My only real complaint is the lack of accessories, so I gave him this retro-futuristic ray gun from my McFarlane Toys Deluxe Accessory Pack. Basic articulation in the legs limit his stance, but I was happy the domed helmet can be removed to position the figure's head.

I have a very similar Space Combat Batman in my Mattel Brave & The Bold collection- a favorite toy line of mine since I started collecting years ago that featured interchangeable parts. I still pick one up from time to time when I find one I didn't have...

McFarlane 6" Space Batman with my 7" McFarlane Toys '66 Batman, and 8" Mego '66 Batman. I'm a big '89 Batman fan, but '66 Batman was in heavy syndication in the seventies- Adam West was really my first Batman. I will always love it...

I can't tell you when I picked up this Funko Gold Batmobile w/Batman, but I loved the box so much I haven't been able to make myself open it- it's in its own, custom display box! Since we were on the subject of '66 Baman, why not share this with you...

I also have a 3.75" Mr. Freeze from Funko's Classic TV Series with great detail ...!

I still pick up a '66 Batmobile once in a while, especially if it's a special color like this gold/purple version. I have a few Black versions with slightly different paint decos, and a few squashed "'Tooned" samples...

While these are wildly divergent versions of Batman, I hope you enjoyed the side forays into other parts of my collection, old and new. Batman is my all-time favorite character, and I love different interpretations of him, even the whimsical. Fifteen years ago, when blogging was a more prevalent platform for collectors, a couple of fellow bloggers challenged one another for the largest collection of Batman figures- I'm not sure I could compete with their numbers, but my collection has certainly grown. Regardless, I still have more on ice to show you in future posts!

McFarlane DC Multiverse Deadshot & Adam Strange

I found these two McFarlane DC Multiverse figures at a Walmart around the corner from where I live and gave into their nostalgic charm. I'd seen Deadshot and Adam Strange in the wild before, as well as the variants for each. I don't buy every McFarlane I see, but these stood out as really nice with plenty of accessories.

I love the details on this Deadshot and his flat paint scheme- he looks like he walked right out of a Bronze-Age DC comic book. Deadshot has three sets of gauntlet guns, including a firing pair and smoking-barrels pair.

Below, Deadshot with my McFarlane Knightfall Batman...

Adam Strange is a great looking figure with a retro Flash Gordon vibe. The figure's four faceplates add a lot of posing possibilities with other figures. His pistol sits loosely in its holster, but his gripping hand grabs it securely.

And finally, my new McFarlane figures with my

I'm sure most reading this have by now heard the news that Mattel has regained licensing for DC figures after losing it to McFarlane Toys in 2020- this should take effect in 2026, and I'm not sure if McFarlane will make any DC product thereafter- will they still produce figures under thew DC Direct banner McFarlane resurrected? Only time will tell. I have mixed feelings about McFarlane DC Multiverse line, including limited thigh articulation, joints that pinch my fingers, and weak ankles, among other gripes. Still, there are many I've really enjoyed and there will be more I will pick up before McFarlane moves on from the DC Multiverse line.

Legends of Dragonore Ignytor

My preorder for this Legends of Dragonore Ignytor was finally fulfilled through BBTS recently after months of delay past the initially projected delivery date, and recent word from Formo Toys via social media pushed the second wave of figures further out as well. But you can get both dragons, Ignytor and Pyrant, and the 1.5 Wave is in stock as well. I'd love to have that recolored 1.5 Wave, but you can't have everything- not enough room! Check out my video of Ignytor:

I was surprised at the compactness of this dragon's packaging, separated among three trays with an elaborately illustrated booklet detailing assembly in upright position on one side, and rider mode on the other. The conversion is really only a change of front limbs and repositioning of the head, the neck peg inserted into the port on back of the dragon's head. I wish the chest harness would fit a little tighter around the Ignytor's body so the rider/saddle wouldn't drift, but it's manageable. The pegs are tight so be patient and try a hair dryer to soften the plastic if necessary.

The deco and sculpt are simple in the way a fantasy toy of this style should be, with bright, playful color. "Toyetic" would be the appropriate adjective. Ignytor is an expensive toy, but worth it to me- Formo Toys isn't pumping out the kind of volume larger companies do, so a smaller production run is going to be more costly. Like the other Legends of Dragonore figures I have, I love the overall quality of this dragon, solid and well crafted. Formo Toys has produced a line of fantasy toys we might have had in the '80s. Below, Ignytor with my Legends of Dragonore Divine Armor in front of my Funko Primal Age Batcave...

Ignytor is compatible with other 5.5" fantasy action figures like my Super 7 Conan and Lion-O
but my favorite pairing so far is with my Legends of Dragonore Divine Armor Figure...

My Funko Primal Age Batcave has become home to my Legends of Dragonore collection...

And finally, Ignytor with my Legends of Dragonore Wave 1...

McFarlane Batmen Dump

As promised in my last post, another dump on McFarlane figures, this one all Batman related. I've been amassing this stack of figures for quite some time now, so I'm sure there's a lot of these you are familiar with.

1st Appearance Batman
This is the first of these I bought with the wired cloth cape, a feature I've sincerely been enjoying. He's on a nice, big buck that appears to share a lot of parts with the McFarlane Hush Batman (also in this post). Traditionally, 1st Appearance Batman would have a more slender build, but McFarlane went muscular here. He comes with a wrench accessory I don't care about, and decent assortment of hands, even if the palmed pair look a little "Mickey Mouse". Would love to have had a grapple with rope instead. Gripes aside, I like this figure a lot- great cape!

Below, Batman battles Penguin ...!

Let's step back a moment before McFarlane introduced the wired capes and check out two figures McFarlane/Batman fans went nuts over, Hush and Knightfall Batman...

Knightfall Batman
I never read the Knightfall saga, but we were given a classic, blue and gray, Bronze-Age, Jim Aparo Batman here, in my assessment- one everyone wanted for years. I think of cover artist Kelley Jones when I think of Knightfall, but I can't complain about getting this instead...

Knightfall Batman came with an extra set of gripping hands and a batarang to battle the likes of the Riddler! Again, a grapple with rope would have been a welcome accessory ...

Hush Batman
Both Hush and Knightfall Batman came in black and blue variants I would love to have had, but I do like this modern Batman in black and gray. He's got a large buck, looming over a lot of other McFarlane figures, which I like about him. Two batarangs were included, and a smaller set of fists that don't match the figure, nor his gripping hands in size or sculpt.

Below, Hush Batman with my McFarlane Hush Superman ...

McFarlane Kingdom Come Armored Batman
I've had this figure on ice for a while now and was glad to extract him from the box and pop those wings on. His articulation is limited, but he looks cool. The metallic jet pack, possibly his most attractive feature, is sadly obscured on his back. I wish his belt was the same metallic finish, but it's composed of a more rubbery material.

Below, McFarlane Armored Batman with my DC Direct Kingdom Come Superman...

1989 Batman
This is McFarlane's third release of the 1989 Batman, the first single carded. I should have picked up the Amazon Exclusive Batmobile that included a variant of this figure, but you can't have everything. This one has the special cape, which can be cumbersome to deal with when hanging relaxed but looks cool extended.

'89 Batman also included a grapple gun, batarang, and communicator, with all the hands necessary to hold each. A packed box! I was a teenager when this movie dropped, so he's a special figure to me- I'm really happy with him!

Below, '89 Batman with the '66 Batman from my last post ...

Batman Reborn Dick Grayson Batman
I enjoyed the Batman: Reborn book and was fascinated with the idea of Dick Grayson donning the cowl. This more slender buck looks appropriate, and he has decent articulation, particularly in the shoulders. I regret passing on the blue variant I saw before buying this black and gray version, but I do like the figure a lot- McFarlane captured his look.

Batman Reborn Damien Wayne Robin
McFarlane also captured the look of Damian Wayne in this Robin figure- love the wired cape and hood! More hands/accessories would have been nice, but we got a comic book instead. Releasing this figure under the old DC Direct imprint makes no sense, but neither does McFarlane's "Digital" line of figures that include a virtual NFT. Regardless, I love this figure...

My new Batman Reborn Damian with my Mattel Damian, the other McFarlane Damian in my collection, and my old DC Direct Batman Inc. Damian...

Silver-Age Batman
I love everything about this figure; he looks like he walked right out of the comics! The cape alone is magnificent! I'm also a fan of the black/shadowed cowl and trunks- I think I found my favorite 7" Batman figure. He also came with an Ace the Bat-Hound- no articulation, but a great sculpt and really fun pack-in.

This Batman pairs great with the Classic Joker and Earth 2 Robin from my last post...

This McFarlane Batman reminds me a lot of the Mattel Silver-Age Batman I got years ago...

NECA Toys Ben Cooper Batman Costumed Figure
Sure, this isn't a McFarlane Batman, but I thought he fit right in with the rest and is certainly of my era, being a '70s kid and all. I have a couple other NECA Ben Cooper figures and could not resist picking up a Batman while out hunting recently! Love the Super Friends trick-or-treat bag!

Silver-Age Batman is the vigilante this kid with the Ben Cooper costume would happen upon on Halloween night! He might get a batarang instead of a Zagnut bar ...!

Below, all my new Batman figures with other McFarlane figures in my collection, Top Row: Batgirl, the first McFarlane Batman, and Night Wing, Dark Knight Returns Batman. Middle Row: Red Robin, and Future State Batman. Bottom Row: Hellbat and Flashpoint Batman.
