eBay Lego Mix & LeLe Minifig Boxes

I needed a some more simple prop/background Lego bricks to showcase my growing collection of minifigures, so I found a seller on eBay from Chicago who had such miscellania, scoring a couple Lego construction minifigs along with. And via Chian Post arrived a large gray baseplate and four LeLe minifig boxes to display some of my favorites. I'm not so crazy about the idea of building an entire structure for lack of room to display, but prefer simpler backdrops to photograph my minifigures among.

Of note among these random Lego parts I acquired are 

a couple of circuitry panels, supposedly from '62...

The LeLe boxes hold two minifigures each, but will not accommodate 

an oversized figure like the Hulk or Darkseid...

All this will make for more interesting photos in the minifig madness to come...

Hey Mr. Postman: BootLego Robin

Yes I already had a Bootlego Robin, but this one looks like the Boy Wonder from the DC Super Heroes Lego movies, his look an homage to the Tim Drake character. I've only slowed a little in buying these Asian bootlegs on eBay- they're so cheap that it's hard to say no!

Lego City Race Car

I've been showing a lot of BootLego minifigs here on the Super-DuperToyBox, found on eBay from Asian sellers for really low prices. I am crazy for them, but was still looking at Lego brand sets when I found this Lego City race car driver at Target for about four bucks. For after all, it is by Lego which all brick building toys are measured. I really like the happy colors and the minifigure helmet with visor- the car has rubber tires! There was also a bagged Chima and Lego Astronaut that looked pretty cool! I picked up another Lego set with this, as well as a Block Tech set I'll show you later. This race car set appealed to my love of Hot Wheels, specifically their Mega Blocks sets I've reviewed on my other blog, Super Fun Hot Wheels...

Funko POP! Arkham Knight

I don't play video games, but really love this character from the popular Arkham Knight, and do have a modest sub-collection of vinyl Batman figures I really love. This Arkham Knight is a vinyl figure, not a bobble head like the POP! Vision I reviewed in September- I'm unsure if all the Marvel POP! vinyls are bobble heads, and the DC characters are proper vinyl figures, but that seems to be the case among what I've collected.

Arkham Knight's secret identity is Jason Todd, the second Robin killed by the Joker back in Death In the Family, 1988. Todd has assumed the identity of the Red Hood in the past, another Batman nemesis and murderous vigilante. The Arkham Knight character is new to the Batman canon, created specifically for the 2015 video game by Rocksteady Productions and DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns. I love the futuristic paramilitary look of this character!

Hey, Mr. Postman! BootLego Arrow & Arsenal!

And what landed in the Super-DuperToyBox mailbox AGAIN this week? Why yes, more BootLego minifigures from Asia! Produced by manufacturers like Dargo Block World and LEBQ, most ship at reasonable prices, or free, and so cheap it's hard to believe anyone could make any money. I like that I don't have bulky sets or vehicles in order to get the minifigures, which I have little use for...

I haven't seen the Arrow TV show, but am a fan of the Oliver Queen character of DC Comics! Check out a Green Arrow grouping shot from my collection in my April 2014 post on the 10" JLU Green Arrow!

Star Wars Rebels 3.75"

I don't write about Star Wars here on the Super-DuperToyBox much, but there's no doubt the franchise influenced my fascination with sci-fi and pop culture in general, and this blog started 5 years ago with my finding an original Kenner 15" Darth Vader- just like the one I had from childhood. I'm more excited about the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed  than I have been concerning the subject in some time, regardless of Disney's involvement, and impulsively picked these Star Wars Rebels figures up while marveling at how much Star Wars merchandise was on the pegs while out window shopping a couple weekends ago. I knew nothing of the animated show these characters are part of, but they were on sale and it was fun to buys some new Star Wars figures.

Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus are a young pickpocket with Force abilities, and his young Jedi counterpart in the Star Wars Rebels show, visually inspired by conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie's original Star Wars artwork. These are 5-point gang just like I grew up on, so they don't have a great deal of free-standing posing options, but I like their colors and their lightsabers are way better than we got in the '70s and '80s...

Ezra came with a stormtrooper helmet, and both came with extra accessories that can be combined with other figures from the line. Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus obviously fill the typecast of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in the Rebels story, the scrappy young dreamer and experienced, world-weary warrior...

Garazeb Orrelios & C1-10P "Chopper" are very reminiscent of McQuarrie's conceptual renderings of Chewbacca and R2-D2, because of which they most remind me of the sense  of wonder I felt as a child when first exposed to the weird and wonderful world of Star Wars....

Garazeb Orrelios comes with a missile launcher that works quite effectively...

A couple Christmas ago, my nephew got me this unidentified Astromech R2 droid, which looks a lot like R2-D2. With age I've become more fond of the droid characters, and robots in general...

These two make a fun pair and really remind me of the Star Wars of my youth!

Mattel 11.5" Superman

I was on the fence about this tall, "highly poseable" Superman for awhile. but finally caved- at ten bucks he's a good value, and much more fun up close out of the box. There isn't a series branding on the box of these larger Mattel DC figures, putting them in the "evergreen" category, a Batman, Robin, Joker, and Riddler also released recently in the same format. 

I love a big, dumb action figure! Mattel Superman with my Bandai Dino Charge Power Ranger, Toybiz Marvel Universe Captain Marvel, and Hasbro Titan Series Iron Patriot...

These DC evergreen boast 9 points of articulation on the box, four more than Hasbro's Marvel Titan Series, which I'm also a fan of. Superman can do a little more than the Titan figures, including a standing kick with those hinged-swivel hips. The shoulders and elbows have similar articulation, and his wrists are also swiveled. The "S" shield isn't printed on back of the cape, but they did keep the New 52 shape of it, pointed in center on the cape's tail. He's simple in color and sculpt, but has some nice panel detail in the boots and body suit.

The blue on this figure is a lighter shade than the other Mattel New 52 Supermen in my collection... pictured below with Imaginext Superman, Total Heroes Superman, and Justice League Superman...

This new Superman looks a lot like my DC Collectibles New 52 Superman, one of my favorites...
