Outer Space Men 12" Colossus Rex

I came upon this 12" Colossus Rex at a deep internet discount on the Outer Space Men store this past July- a small production piece I purchased for its retro-appeal and deluxe shelf presence and bright colors. Check out the video:

This 12" vinyl figure is based on the Colossus Rex designs by Mel Birnkrant, who spearheaded the Outer Space Men toys of the '60s. I have several of the 4-5" glyos figures that Four Horsemen reissued awhile back, but this big boy was produced by Clutter Studios. He's a basic 5 points of articulation, which is fine by me as he will probably hand in the background of my MOTU display or something like that. While cumbersome in size, the box is collector friendly- there were no ties nor tape anywhere on the box. I with the leg joints were a bit tighter, but he stands fine.

MOTU Origins Snake Armor He-Man & King Hiss

I had preordered King Hiss some time ago from Entertainment Earth, who pulled the rug from under me at the last minute, leaving me to seek the figure out on the secondary market- expensive! Snake Armor He-Man was priced slightly more modestly, but I wanted these to go with my new Snake Mountain playset, so I'm happy   :)

King His can now rule over my other MOTU Snake Men in my new Snake Mountain playset ...! Below, clockwise from top-left: Masters of the WWE Jake the Snake, King Hiss, Snake Teela, Tung Lashor, and Rattlor.

There's a variant of this Snake Armor He-Man sold with the Diabolical Snake Invasion set, but I've yet to pull the trigger on that- I prefer the gold trim on this figure over the lime green on the variant, but I'd love to have them both- this is a fantastic He-Man!

Below, Snake Armor He-Man with some other MOTU Origins He-Man figures in my collection: Prince Adam, the first standard issue Origins He-Man, Battle Armor He-Man, and my Battlefield Warriors Battle Armor He-Man in vac-metal finish!

Snake Armor He-Man & King Hiss really complete my Snake Mountain ...!

NECA Ultimate Creature from the Black Lagoon

I've been waiting for this one to come in stock forever and bumped into this NECA Ultimate Creature from the Black Lagoon on an endcap at a local Target recently.  The box art is fantastic and collector-friendly so I'll probably hang onto it for storage of the figure. I should probably think hard about picking up a few more of these Universal Monsters NECA figures while I can- the details are top notch.

This Ultimate Gill Man includes four pairs of hands and three heads- one with a partially open mouth, one closed, and a third with an articulated jaw. Trick! Honestly, NECA should have given us a different accessory, maybe a net, since the articulated jaw renders the two static portraits moot. The colors on this figure are relatively saturated, the highlights a metallic gold- the original film was black and white, but the deco on this Ultimate version is obviously informed by the movie posters. A fantastic figure- recommended!

MOTU Origins Snake Mountain Playset

The anticipation for this Motu Origins Snake Mountain playset wasn't as crushing as for my Origins Castle Grayskull in 2021, but its initial dismissal as a piece unnecessary to my collection, never having it as a child in the '80s, soon dissolved. My childhood MOTU window was but a couple years long, and I have collected this new Origins line well past those first characters/playsets already. Life is short, buy the playset! My box got a little crunched, but I was able to use some Amazon Visa points to get mine shipped free for around $68.00. A fantastic value! Check out the video:

Snake Mountain is taller than the MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull, but it's "play area" is more split between the front and back of the playset. It is INSANE having these two big playsets for sale at retail today, Friends! Fun!

Also seen in the video above are these MOTU Origins Snake Men Series figures I've had on ice for a while now, awaiting the arrival of Snake Mountain! The mini comic version of Roboto was in one of these Snake Men waves, which was a must-have for me!

Shouldn't Teela be the Queen of Snake Mountain with that motif running through her story? The snake staff and armor? I bought the first Origins Teela, the Eternian Goddess (from the original mini comics), and now this outright Snake Teela! I want the Teela packed with the new Zoar bird, too!

The first MOTU Origins Roboto (2021) with my new mini comic variant...

And finally, the three mini comics included with these figures, featuring the classic cross-sell page on back showing all the figures in the other waves. I may have a couple or more of the other figures among the three waves represented, and they don't even cover all the Snake Men figures released in the Origins line.

McFarlane DC Multiverse Hush Superman & Anti-Monitor

I've written about my issues with posing McFarlane figures and their pinchy joints that have bit my fingers more than twice, but here we are again with a couple new releases, Hush Superman and Anti-Monitor. There are just some McFarlane figures I'm going to pick up because of their great sculpt and/or deco...

I have a few other Kryptonian McFarlane figures, but no conventional, classic Superman. I never picked up that first Action #1000 Superman, mostly annoyed by the omission of the S insignia on the cape. The portrait is stylized like the Jim Lee Superman from Hush and may be lacking warmth in the skin tones, but he's a decent classic Superman.

Below, Hush Superman with Jonathan Kent Superman and Kon-El Superboy...

Hush Superman with the quite possibly the only character more powerful in the DC Universe,
orphan of another lost planet, and one of my favorite, Martian Manhunter...

I had to show the Crisis on Infinite Earths artwork on the verso
of this Anti-Monitor's box by the late, great George Perez...

I was mostly excited to photograph this Anti-Monitor with my Superboy Prime, another important character in the Crisis on Infinite Earths book, whose version of Earth was consumed in the light of the Anti-Monitor. I had much smaller DC Direct Anti-Monitor I loved but sold him a few years ago.
