Figures Toy Co. Mego Batman

I'd been wanting a Mego Batman with this fixed cowl head sculpt for some time now, the one with the vague smile and pupilled stare like the Batman I had in the '70s. Figures Toy Company has been releasing these replica figures for years, along with a universe of other characters Mego never produced in their halcyon days, so I purchased an uncarded, factory bagged sample on their eBay store. I also bought their replica Mego Batmobile in 2022, which I love to death...

Below, Figures Toy Co. Batman flanked by my Mego Big Lots Exclusive '66 Batman and Mego World's Greatest Heroes 50th Anniversary Batman, both with removable cowls- a feature that I just missed by a year or two as a child in the '70s. The new Mego Batman figures here are superior in overall quality, but the Figures Toy Co. replica has it's own thing going on. If Mego releases an updated Batman with this head sculpt and their new band-less body, I will certainly buy two or three!

For some compulsion I don't understand, I chose to purchase a black cape, scalloped like Batman's, from another online seller while securing my Figures Toy Co. Batman. I wondered if it would give him an off-model, '70s bootleg vibe ... it kind of did   :D

Criminals Beware! The Dynamic Duo, Batman & Robin!

Had a ton of fun playing with this Figures Toy Company Batman! His joints and neck swivel weren't the tightest, such has been the case with some of their figures I've purchased, but I wanted a Mego Batman with the fixed/sculpted cowl and unblinking stare like the toy of my childhood! Love it! Be sure to check out the Mego Museum online and take a trip back to the glory days of Mego and the World's Greatest Superheroes!

MOTU Origins Snake Face, Sssqueeze, Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms

I've had these MOTU Origins Snake Men on ice far too long, my Snake Moutain playset having been in full service now for the last four months! There have been rumors about additional Snake Men figures on the horizon for this line, but if it doesn't happen, I feel these round out my collection well enough.

Deluxe Snake Face
I kept reading rave reviews about this figure enough that I came to appreciate him as a good candidate for my Snake Men lineup over time. I didn't collect Masters of the Universe past '83 or so, so I missed the 1987 release of the original Snake Face. This figure doesn't possess the original action feature, forgoing the lever on back in favor of an additional head sculpt and fold-down serpent panels on the chest.

Below, Snake Face and King Hiss snake-out in competition for the throne of Snake Mountain!

Snake Face came with the Viper's Vice mini comic. I didn't pick up the other deluxe figure featured in the story, Dragon Blast Skeletor- another figure I didn't have from the original line. Even so, I've collected far beyond what I had as a child in the '80s.

Sssqueeze
I wasn't initially interested in Sssqueeze due to the large display footprint, until I came to my senses and ordered this sample from BBTS last October along with Snake Face. There isn't a hinge at the shoulders, but the bendy arms are really fun, if somewhat unwieldy. The head is unique and the whole thing is kind of ridiculous looking -in a good way. Is it a wrestling outfit?

Below, Sssqueeze with King Hiss down in the pit inside Snake Mountain ...!

My Snake Men collection in and around Snake Mountain: King Hiss, Snake Teela, Tung Lashor, Snake Face, Sssqueeze, Rattlor, and my Masters of the WWE Jake the Snake for good measure!

Sssqueeze came with the same mini comic as Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms, The Fading Fortress:

Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms
I actually got Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms back in early August, keeping him to show later when I got more Snake Men. I knew I'd want him as soon as they solicited the figure, Man-At-Arms being one of the first Masters of the Universe Figures back in 1982. We go waaaay back!

Below, Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms with my original  MOTU Origins Man-At-Arms- yes, the armor pieces on the left arm of this new variant slide down  :D   Still love them both!

Now my Snake Armor He-Man has a partner to battle the Snake Men ...!

... perhaps they can capture Snake Teela and save her from the terrible curse!

I will definitely take teamwork to take down slithering Sssqueeze ...!

Super Powers Batman & Nightwing

I've so far avoided buying every one of these McFarlane Toys Super Powers figures, but had to pick up the all-black Batman and Nightwing figures back in December. They don't have the action features the Kenner figures had back in the '80s, but I love their retro styling.

Below, Super Powers Batman with my 1990 Kenner Shadow Wing Batman, which has a great action feature and a better sculpt than the McFarlane Batman, modeled after actor Michael Keaton's cinematic Batman...

I was particularly won over by this Nightwing in one of his earlier "Knightfall" outfit...

There aren't a lot of posing options with these figures due to their very basic articulation, but I really enjoy their simple, retro charm. I didn't have any Super Powers figures as a kid, as I'd just moved into my early teen years when Kenner introduced the original line, but I can certainly appreciate them.

Super Powers Batman and Nightwing join my ever evolving collection of assorted toys on the Batman shelf of my detolf display cabinet...

MOTU Masterverse Deluxe She-Ra & Hordak

I bought these Deluxe Masterverse She-Ra and Hordak loose at a discounted price last July, when I started buying up these 7" Masters of the Universe figures, As I've said before, I'd resolved to stick with the 5.5" MOTU Origins line back in 2020, but couldn't keep away from these, which are essentially the spiritual successor to the long retired 6" Masters of the Universe Classics line.

Masterverse Princess of Power She-Ra

I like the masked portrait and shoulder harness w/longer cape-
this combination makes her look like Jane Foster Thor...

Masterverse Princess of Power Hordak

Hordak cames with two extra right arms, one to hold his non-functional crossbow, and extra hands, including a robotic claw, which can actually be used with the Masterverse Revelation Roboto from my last post. The cannon arm with blast accessory is my favorite though...

It's about time I got around to photographing these, with so many other Masterverse and Origins figures to open. Too much fun! Stay tuned for more Masters of the Universe here on the Super-DuperToyBox!
